Clinical
Hypnosis with Kieran - General Description:
What is a trance?
A trance is a special state of mind that is perfectly suited for learning
and discovering more about yourself. You experience it many times each
day. Have you ever been reading a book and come to a particularly interesting
section and you find yourself sitting still and daydreaming a little bit
to help you absorb what you have just read? This is an example of the
trance state.
What is clinical hypnosis?
Clinical hypnosis is the process where the hypnotherapist helps you to
achieve this special trance state and then helps you to use it in ways
that are useful for you. The session begins with a discussion about the
things you would like to achieve for yourself then you use your own creative
processes under the guidance of the hypnotherapist to create the trance
state. Once you are in this special learning frame of mind we work together
to achieve the changes you are looking for.
How can clinical hypnosis help?
The trance state, utilised during clinical hypnotherapy, is very effective
for achieving three main things; changing your feelings, changing your
behavior and learning more about yourself.
1. You can change the way you feel.
This applies to your emotional feelings as well as the sensations of
your body. If you feel sad you can learn to feel happy. In fact however
you feel, you can learn to feel other ways. It relation to your body,
hypnosis is an excellent tool for pain relief and relaxation.
2. You can change the way you behave.
We tend to think of ourselves as being run by our thoughts. In fact a
large degree of our behaviour is dictated by our emotions at the subconscious
level. That's why we can't seem to think our way out of bad habits, phobias
and compulsive or negative behaviour. Hypnosis works at the subconscious
level and therefore is often very effective in helping us overcome problem
behaviour.
3. You can learn more about yourself.
Sometimes a person's problems can stem from the fact that all of their
thoughts and emotions feel all mixed up inside. Hypnosis is an excellent
tool for sorting out these internal resources and learning to use our
own abilities in positive and well directed ways.
What is a hypnotic trance like?
The trance state generally feels relaxed, comfortable and a little bit
interesting. While in the trance state most people still pay attention
to everything being said and often remember everything afterwards. Occasionally,
when someone is very comfortable and relaxed they may drift off into a
very relaxing daydream type state but regardless of what your conscious
mind is paying attention to your subconscious mind is always learning
and making choices and motivating your behavior in ways that look after
your own well being.
